Quadro FAQ
Answers to the common questions — cost, sign-in, offline play, the daily reset, how the leaderboard ranks, and how to delete your scores.
Is Quadro free?
Yes. Quadro is free to play, has no ads, and sells nothing. There is no paid tier and no in-game purchase.
Do I need an account?
Only to post a score. Practice, Learn to play, and reading the leaderboard all work signed out. You need to sign in only when you want your Daily result recorded on a board, because a board without identities cannot be ranked honestly.
How often does the daily puzzle change?
Once a day, at midnight New York time. Every player in the world gets the same deal for that day, dealt from a shared seed, so the same factories appear in the same order for everyone.
How many attempts do I get?
One recorded attempt per opponent per day. Because each of the six AI opponents has its own board, you can hold a place on several boards on the same day — but you cannot replay the same opponent for a better number. Practice is unlimited and never recorded.
How is the leaderboard ranked?
By score margin — your final score minus your opponent's — highest first. Ties are broken by elapsed time, and then by who submitted first. Margin rather than raw score is what makes results comparable, since beating a strong opponent narrowly is a different thing from beating a weak one by a mile. See how scoring works for the detail.
Why does each difficulty have a separate board?
Because the opponents are not comparable. A margin against Extreme and a margin against Easy measure different things, and mixing them into one table would rank the players who picked the weakest opponent at the top. The six opponents explains what each one does.
Can I play offline?
Yes. Practice runs entirely in your browser — the AI opponent included — so once the page has loaded it keeps working with no network. Quadro is installable as an app on phones and desktops. The Daily needs a connection to fetch the day's deal and to submit a result.
Is this the board game Azul?
No. Quadro is an original implementation of the tile-drafting genre that Azul popularised, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by that game's publisher. The rules here are our own; read them on the rules page.
Does the AI cheat?
No. It sees exactly what you see. Quadro is a game of complete information — no hidden hands, no hidden bag order — so there is nothing for either side to hide. The opponent's strength comes from search depth, not from extra information.
How do I delete my scores?
Signing in gives you a delete option that removes every score you have posted. Separately, all leaderboard rows are automatically purged after 90 days.
What can I play if I have never played a tile-drafting game?
Start with Learn to play. It is a scripted round on the real board, about two minutes, and it teaches the two clicks of a turn, the floor line, and how the wall scores.
